Acupressure

Acupressure Treatment

Acupressure is an alternate method to treat mental and physical ailments along with regular medicines (if required) without side effects. It is an ancient healing art using the fingers. The technique is to press key healing points, which stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities.

Acupressure was developed in Asia over 500 years ago. Acupressure therapy is effective in the relief of stress- related ailments, and is ideal for self-treatment and preventive health care for boosting the immune system. It releases tensions, increases circulation, reduces pain and develops spirituality and vibrant health.

Acupuncture and acupressure

Both share the same pressure points and meridians, but Acupuncture employs needles, while Acupressure uses gentle to firm finger pressure. Acupressure therapy can be used to relieve pain, fortify the sexual reproductive system, detoxify the body for greater health and beauty, and tone facial and back muscles.

Theory behind Acupressure

Acupressure is one among many Asian Body Therapies (ABT) with roots in the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory describes special points on meridians (Bio- Energy Channels in body). These points are called Acupressure Points. There are 12 paired meridians (bi-lateral meridians) which are connected to the organs related to their names and also to the next meridian. Solid meridians are called Yin meridian and hollow meridians are called Yang meridian. There are extra meridians like Conception Vessel and Governing Vessel (these two have points on them) but they are unilateral meridians. There are other six extra meridians which act as regulatory and control channels. They have no points of their own. Yin and yang are opposite but complementary. Yin is considered as woman, Yang as man. Again Yin is taken as night and Yang as day.

Energy flows through meridians in a particular way. So energy may be more in one meridian at a particular time. These energy passes through all meridians by 24 hours. The sources of energy are Air, Food, Ancestral energy (energy we got from our parents grandparents etc...).

Treatment procedure in Acupressure

The patient has to lie down fully clothed on a soft massage table. The therapist gently presses on acupressure points of patient's body. A session typically lasts about an hour. You may need several sessions for the best result. We can give treatment for seven continues days or alternate days then better to give interval for two weeks before starting next session.
